My boys are finally in the playoffs for the first time since 2000. GO PANTHERS!!!!!

2000. That was the last year that I was able to experience playoff hockey as a panthers fan. It has been a long and hard wait to get the chance to fight for the Stanley Cup again, but they finally are back at it. It sucks that I have to work for the first game but at least I have DVR. So Ill just watch it when I get home. CAN"T WAIT!!!

So people have asked me "Why do you like the Florida Panthers?' Well here is the story of why the Panthers mean so much to me. I started liking them way back in November of '93. I started to like them cause they were called the Panthers and I love cats. I believe the first game I saw on TV of them was when they played the Bruins of that year. As the year went by I liked how they played. So I was hooked. I would call my grandmother during every game to get updates on the scores. She would check on Headline News for me. She also bought me my first Panthers jersey. I believe it was the white home one. I wore it so much that the panther fell off of it. She also bought me shirts as well. The first Panthers game I ever saw live was the last game they ever played at the Boston Garden on March 11th. The Panthers won 2-0. I went with my father. He fell asleep during it. How some one falls asleep during a hockey game I don't know. Toward the end of the second season I just couldn't take how they were so close to making the playoffs and just could not close it. So I stopped being a fan. But in September of '95 my great grandmother died. It was hard. In that sadness I went back to the Panthers. I just loved them too much. Well good thing I did go back cause this season was going to be a fun one. I went to another regular season game again against the Bruins. Yea and we won again. This year was called The Year Of The Rat. It was called that because Scott Melanby One-timed a rat. The Panthers made the playoffs that year as the #4 seed. They would be going up against the bruins. My teacher Mr. Bourque brought me to Game 3 at the Fleetcenter. We meet this couple there that were Panthers fans. They had Paul Laus flip over a puck and they gave it to me. They also got my address and like a week later they sent me a package of Panthers merchandise. It was so awesome. Oh yea and the Panthers won that game. They would end up winning the series on this AWESOME GOAL.  Then they took care of the Flyers and Pittsburgh before losing to the Avalanche. It was such a great season. I also got a package from the owner of the Panthers back then Wayne Huizenga. The teacher that brought me to the Bruins-Panthers game sent a letter to him. So that was awesome. I also make a scrap book of the season as well. That next year they went to the playoffs again but lost to the rangers in 5. I was able to watch them at home now seeing as we finally got cable. I would have to go to my uncle Ronans or Jacks house to watch the games. So when I moved out of my parents house and lived with my grandparents I go a computer and I was able to listen to every game that the Panthers played. Then when I moved in with Melissa's family I got the NHL Center Ice Package and was then able to watch them anytime they played and I have had it ever since. I have gone down to Florida to see a couple of games. I went to see a game against the Kings on Oct. 26th 2001.(We won 3-2). And then again on Jan 21st 2002 against Montreal. (We also won that game 7-5).  I did stop liking the Panthers for one game back in 2010 and went to the Dark Side. Like I said it lasted just one game. Can't believe I did that. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Well I'm going to close this out. The reason I love the Panthers so much is because of these 3 reasons.
1. It brought me close to my grandmother. She supported my fanship of the
Panthers. She would look up the scores for me whenever I called. She
bought me my first Panthers jersey. She passed away in March of 2004.
That's the main reason why I love the Panthers so much. It was because
    of her support of them.
2.  The taught me loyalty, Being a fan during that 11 years of no playoffs
you really need to have tough skin. It has taught me to be there for
friends through thick or thin. No matter how bad it gets it does get
     better.
3.  They give me such joy and happiness.

GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
