Retail SUUUUUCCCCKKKKSSSS!!!!!

So I have now been in the restaurant industry for a month now and I'm really liking it. A lot more fast pace industry than retail. Constantly on the move constantly doing things. If you all don't know I work the fry station in Dave and busters. So I make anything that is fried. For example chicken fingers chicken wing mozzarella sticks so forth and so forth.I am so glad you are retail

There are so many things wrong with the retail industry.I'll talk now both the things that I truly hated about retail.

1. The management in retail has its finger stuck up it's ass. Now I have done management in retail. When I was at Best Buy I was the media supervisor. At Barnes & Noble I was the head cashier. At CVS I was b the shift supervisor. At Target I was the GSTL and Target Cafe team lead. In all those management roles I always look out for my people because without your people you don't have job. But that cannot be said about other management in retail. I've had many managers that total assholes. I had this one GM at Best Buy that would always pick on me. it caused me so much stress that there was times I was out of work due to stress. It seemed like all the managers in any job I had seemed to like me. The last manager I had named Don was a complete ass. He thought he was algh and mighty thought he was the king the target. He took a liking to me and in past experiences that never meant to be a good thing. When I got the target Café team lead position he would come over to target Café every single day he was working. Even though he knew nothing of food services, he would tell me what to do and how to on my station. That is the thing with retail managers, they think they know everything, but they do not. My ETL at target was a complete bonehead. She knew nothing of how to run a front end checklane. But do you know how she got that position? Because she had a degree that made her qualified to be a manager in target. Yet here I am with 12 years experience in the retail target would not hire me as a ETL. Please tell me how that makes any sense. It doesn't. a monkey could manage a retail store.

2. Customers suck!!! The other thing that got me was the customers. Any retail job I had the customers would always treat you like shit. I just want me to hate people. They think they're all high and mighty that they deserve whatever they want. They don't care that you are a person as well and that they are better than you. They look at you like you're the scum of the earth. Most customers have no respect.. They will be talking on their cell phones while you're ringing them up and not have the courtesy to hang up. I also hate when they will throw the money down you. It's like why can you not just handed me I find that so disrespectful.

3. Pay in retail sucks. Sure I made okay money, but I also was in management so. If you go in with no retail experience then expect to make about minimum wage. Then when it comes to raise time consider yourself lucky if you get $.25 every year. For my last review I got $.43. And that was for one year. In my new job I could make that in the next month and I could make additional one dollar in the next year. Again the raises in retail suck!!!!

4. Black Friday. This day sucks in retail. Is the day when stores will have " crazy" sales. Due to the fact that America is such a consumerist country people need their things. When I started retail the earliest stores would open would be 5 AM. My last Black Friday my store opened at 1 AM. They would have opened earlier it was not a Massachusetts state law that we could not be in the building before 12 AM. Every year I've opened I will see a line of people waiting in the bitter cold for something that's saving maybe an extra $50. Just sad and due to this sick nature I had not been able to enjoy Thanksgiving in the last five years this was one of my biggest things I hate about retail. It's like people just enjoy the holiday and then have a good night sleep and go out seven in the morning. I'm sure you've all seen the crazy Black Friday videos on YouTube it is that bad.

5. Benefits in a retail also suck. You have to pay an arm and a leg for shitty coverage. When I left target I was on the first of the three packages that they offered. It cost me $120 every two weeks. And they would even cover one of my prescriptions. You would think that a multi-billion dollar company could give better health insurance.

So in closing I hate retail. I never want to go back again!!!!!
